Tips: How to save wisely with 0% APR balance transfer

Try to get the longest 0% APR introductory period possible. The most preferable is 12 months. Most of the balance transfer cards will offer you only 6 months, but the longer the introductory period - the better. Take into account that you will probably need a couple of years to pay off your credit debts, so a longer 0% APR period will be right on the button.

Please consider your APR after the introductory period. Make sure it is reasonably low as well. It should be at least low in accordance with your credit profile. There are many really high interest rates credit cards, which offer a 0% APR on balance transfers for introductory period, but when it comes to an end, you may be badly frustrated about your new high APR.

Try to apply for a credit card with no balance transfer fee. You may think it's not really a big deal, but the average balance transfer fee is 3% of the total balance transfer with the minimum finance charge of $5 and a maximum charge of around $50 to $75. A 0% credit card with no additional balance transfer fee charge will help you to save.
We strongly recommend you not to apply for a credit card that uses two-cycle average daily balance method of estimating balances. The average daily balance method is applied to the most of the cards. If you carry a debt and wish to reduce your balance every month to pay off your debt, the two-cycle average daily balance method will cause higher finance charges.

Try to obtain a 0% APR balance transfer credit card with the introductory period starting from the date of transfer (not from the account opening date). This will give you some freedom in case you need to do a balance transfer later. Some cards give you a 0% APR from the account opening day. And some will let your introductory period begin on the day of balance transfer.

Make sure you pay off your bills on time. If you don't, your 0% APR will turn into default APR. Here the effective method of automatic payment can help you. You can set a monthly transaction from your bank account directly to your credit card. This will ensure your payment comes on time. Or you can simply pay your bill right upon its arrival.
* 0% Intro APR on Purchases and Balance Transfers.

It's hard to imagine that credit cards haven't always been made of plastic. But in fact they are of different origin. The story of invention of credit cards is rather curious. Learn more about it!

We are used to the idea that credit cards are entirely banks' attributes. But this is not exactly true.
