Credit Overdue
Apply for the Balance Transfer Credit Card and Beware of the Penalty Provision
Post date: 28.03.08

A credit card may turn to be a really golden and expensive thing to afford with a glance of all the penalty fees and default APR set for the late payment. Credit cards have become a rather popular product. Alongside with that, the public advertising suggests that everything is easy and safe to buy with a credit plastic. Lots of people will realize it really late, how much does this permissiveness cost. And sooner or later they will have to pay for it anyway.

The overdue payment on a bank credit card is a common practice today. And some cardholders realize that the price of these late payments may be really high. It should be mentioned that the default annual percentage rate on credit cards may reach 100%, which could be called fantastic, if it wasn't a reality.

All the irresponsible cardholders should get ready to pay the penalty fees of the following types, if they want to apply for balance transfer credit card online:

  • Late payment fee is imposed since the first day of delinquency and accounts for up to 50% of the late payment in foreign currency or up to 85% of the late payment in national currency. Moreover you are charged all the regular standard low APR. All these fees amount for 100% APR. Besides, the banks charge penalty fees for every particular case of late payment.
  • The credit overdraft penalty or unauthorized credit overdraft penalty amounts for 150% of a present APR and adds to the present 0% APR. Some banks charge this penalty from the total sum of credit and some (more loyal to customers) only from the amount of overdraft. Don't forget, that banks charge the one time penalty fee as well.

Moreover, overdraft may happen not only with credit, but with debit card as well. Read the credit card terms and conditions carefully and be vigilant.

But sometimes it happens that for some reason (sickness or job loss) the card holder can't pay his debts. Lots of banks would comply in many points to restore the solvency of the customers.

Some banks offer credit programs, which provide so called credit vacations. They enable customers to suspend credit payments. Obviously, it is done for special reason. If the bank doesn't meet such customer halfway, they may consider it bad debt, which will later lead this debt to financial losses, due to the partial debt forgiveness and payment of the service of debt collecting agencies. So if you are experiencing financial troubles you'd better contact the bank and notify them that you are temporarily not able to repay your credit. If you do this, there is a good chance that you will find a compromise with a bank and avoid various penalty fees, which could be imposed, if the customer evades payments and defaults to come to the bank. If the financial problems are temporary, credit vacations will be the best thing to do.

There is another way of credit payment - "recrediting". It is used when a card holder's solvency went down so much, that he can't afford the present amount of debt payment. So the remainder of the debt is recount for the longer period. This way, the monthly payments are reduced to the level, the card holder is able to pay.
